Two Before Ten care a lot about coffee, but that's not all you'll find at this cafe and coffee roasters. Whether you're just popping in for your morning caffeine dose, have a weekend brunch date, or want a quick toastie at the end of the day, Two before Ten can sort you out.
The coffee comes from all over the world, but it's roasted by Two Before Ten. This means you get a good cup of coffee in the morning, but it also means they have a few other coffee related perks. If you like their coffee you can also get it at home, with their choice of single origin, house blend, or seasonal blend. Keep your eyes and ears open and you could book an 'ultimate coffee experience' where you get to roast a batch and learn a lot more about the coffee growing and roasting process.
There are freshly squeezed juices as well, but they can run out of some fruits nearer the end of the day.
Not everyone is a coffee aficionado, and Two Before Ten covers all it's bases by having a good breakfast, lunch, and toastie menu throughout the day. They proudly source most of their fresh produce from local farms within the Canberra region, because of this the menu is also seasonal, instead of the same old dishes all year round.
For breakfast, for example, you can choose between homemade baked beans, house roasted muesli, or their spanish egg toritilla with chorizo. The toasted brioche comes topped with a generous serving of blueberries, blackberries, strawberries, and raspberries, as well as banana; unfortunately the caramel sauce doesn't add much to this otherwise scrumptious breakfast.
You can only grab lunch on weekdays, and service stops at 2:30, so make sure you don't miss out. Think of things like pulled pork served with jelly made from Wig and Pen cider, from just around the corner, or their roasted eggplant salad with chickpeas, tomato, sumac, coriander, and spiced yoghurt.
If you do miss out on lunch you can still grab a gourmet toastie, they're available till 4pm. Don't expect the usual ham, cheese, and tomato; toasties include smoked tomato with black olive tapenade, feta cheese and pesto, and smoked salmon with balsamic onions, capers, snow pea leaf, and mayonnaise.
The cafe has plenty of room but it's not uncommon to find a line-up at the counter, especially in the morning. There are inside and outside tables, but a great spot is by the large open window; it's the perfect spot for people watching. The decor is fairly simple, but there are a few interesting touches that help give Two Before Ten its own personality. Keep an eye out for the creatures featuring on the wall behind the baristas who look like they'd be more at home in Doctor Who, or say hello to 'Hank' the coffee roaster.
Whether you're after a quick coffee or a long lunch set aside some time for Two Before Ten. They're open Monday to Friday 6:30am-5pm, and Saturday and Sunday 8am-2pm. You can find an up-to-date menu online, and if you follow them on Facebook you'll be able to find out about any specials or events.
