Two Ballerinas Dance School

Ever dreamed of flying through the air in a ballet split leap? Perhaps pirouetting across the stage into the arms of your handsome prince (or princess) is more your style. While that may seem a little far-fetched for some, for Rosetta Cook and Michelle Giammichele it was entirely possible.

Former Principal Ballerinas of The Queensland Ballet, Rosetta and Michelle founded the dance company 2ballerinas in 2007 and aim to encourage others to pursue their childhood dream of dancing like a ballerina.

2ballerinas offer eight different types of ballet and contemporary dance classes. If you've never had a ballet lesson in your life don't despair. Their unique class levels cater for the absolute beginner (never danced a step in your life) to the advanced (semi-professional and professional dancers).

For those of you with no experience you'll need the Introduction to Ballet 1 class followed by the Introduction to Ballet 2. The Pre Elementary and Elementary classes are for those with a few years experience while the Intermediate and Masterclass accommodate the more advanced ballet student.

Other classes include the Ballet Stretch Class and Contemporary Level 1, a mixture of pilates, yoga and contemporary dance catering for all levels of dancing. For a more detailed description of the eight class levels check out their web page, 'What's the best dance class for me'.

Classes are held throughout three different venues in Brisbane. There are two separate studios in the Bardon area (inner city Brisbane) and they have recently started teaching Masterclass levels at West End.

The ballet lessons are reasonably priced with fees ranging from $15 (for a casual class) to $130 (for a 10 week introductory course to ballet). For specific details on cost, location and class timetables visit their website

For your first ballet lesson 2ballerinas recommend you wear comfortable attire and soft ballet shoes. Ballet lessons are a fantastic form of exercising the entire body. It's not uncommon to work up a sweat so don't forget to bring your water bottle and a hand towel.

I am among the many that hold a childhood fantasy of dancing like a ballerina. Having never taking a ballet lesson in my life, I aim to start with the Introduction to Ballet 1 class. Hope to see you there.
