The construction and need of the Rainworth State School came about in the 1920s when the area became popular with young families. Farmer Robert Finnick sold the land to the school and on 2nd July 1928, the new school opened its doors to 238 students and five teachers.

The original timber building is still used today and houses eight classrooms. During the Depression years, men were given relief work, of which one of their jobs was to hand clear the oval. From those years, new extensions were built including a two-storey brick building in 1933-34, a preschool in 1975, D Block in 1983 and a multi-purpose building in 1998. The School celebrated 75 years in 2003.



On Saturday 31st August 2019 from 2.00 to 7.00pm, the School is hosting its . Activities schedule for the day include rides for the children, talent show, auction, market stalls, face painting, live music, food and entertainment.
