Fabulous food on Friday nights in Forrest Place
It's hard to imagine warm Friday nights in Perth without the Twilight Hawkers Market. Starting ten years ago with a few food stalls, it's grown into a significant event featuring delicious food from around the world. Although the last few years have been difficult, the market will be returning on Friday 14 October with an extended season going all the way through to 24 March .
Late in the afternoon at Forrest Place, colourful stalls are set up and the air fills with tantalising aromas. This year's vendor list is still being organised but favourites are sure to be back. Some of the popular dishes include paella, gnocchi and shakshuka. After a sweet treat? Choose from churros, cream brulee, Nutella crepes and many more. Vegan and gluten free options are also available.
Each week, the market offers entertainment from live music to comedians to talent shows by local dance academies. Starting at 4:30 and running to 9:30 the Hawkers Market is a convenient place to meet after work, before a night out or some shopping in the city. It's also a great event for the family. Since it's outdoors, the kids can run around and the occasional spill is no big deal.
There are tables available along with stools that can serve as seats or tables but be aware that the Hawkers Market can get crowded, especially during festival season. Stalls sometimes sell out so patience and flexibility are essential.
The Twilight Hawkers Market is on most Friday nights but the schedule may be affected by public holidays, bad weather or other scheduled events. Check Instagram or Facebook for the latest news.
