Docklands is known for its fantastic waterfront, and is also now known as a great place to buy your Christmas presents in style, or to enjoy a great summer's night out. Welcome to the Twilight Christmas Markets.
As Melbourne was beginning to recover from the heatwave the day prior, there was still a decent turnout of people, despite being a humid evening. Although the market stalls appear to be ordinary at first sight, some fantastic treasures and food was found.
Thanks to Destination Docklands, The Esplanade has something for everyone, and will continue to do so every Friday evening from 4pm to 9pm, from now right up to and including the Friday before Christmas, the 21st of December.
First off on opening day, the burger food truck was a delight and it proved to be a popular dinner hotspot. If burgers aren't your type of takeaway, then a pizza truck is also onsite. Additionally, there was a jazz band playing, and for the forthcoming twilight markets events in Docklands, Christmas carols and Santa appearances (between 4:30pm to 7:30pm) are also set to be on the cards. The pace was slow, no one was in a hurry.
The fruit slushies van was also popular, and paved the way for a great cool down treat. Otherwise some beautiful craft and jewellery products were also showcased. All of the items here are worthy Christmas presents. If not Christmas presents, then a fantastic and affordable way to spoil yourself in beautiful Docklands.
Can't wait until the Chinese New Year celebrations at Southbank? You're in luck as a feng shui stall was also available with great products to liven up your living space. Missed the recent Mind Body Spirit Festival at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre? That is fine, as psychic readings are also available at the Twilight Christmas Markets. A great family friendly event. Great for anyone who happens to be around in Melbourne on the next few Friday nights before Christmas.
