Are you tired of waking in the predawn hours to arrive at your running event and find parking on time? Always wishing the race started just a little later so you can get that extra hours sleep in? Well Wynnum Twilight Bay Run, Saturday 20th September, 2014 is the event for you. With the first race starting at 4pm and plenty of street parking in the area, it will give you time to rest up and get household jobs done too, before heading down to the beautiful Wynnum waterfront for a run. The event starts on the Lower Esplanade, Wynnum finishing at the Tj Memorial Park which is adjacent to the start line.

As you line up for your event, whether you are walking the 5k or racing the 21k, the atmosphere of this afternoon event will intoxicate you. The afternoon sun is warm on your face and the sea breeze sends a fresh scent of the ocean over the land making your legs just want to run, so you can take in the beautiful scenery of this waterfront adventure. The race starts along the foreshore heading towards Manly, but you are soon turning around to run back along the roads towards Wynnum, past all your family and friends cheering.

As you are guided through the streets and waterfront of Wynnum, the aroma of fresh seafood and hot chips will waft passed your nose making you want to run just that little bit faster so you can finish and try some of the foods from these Bayside Take Away shops. With the 5k finishing well before the sun starts to disappear for the day, the other events start with the feeling of the sun setting and night fall coming. The air is slightly cooler perfect for these longer events. The people of Wynnum are friendly and stand along the streets encouraging you to take that next step as you run towards completing your race.

As the races start and finish, your family wont be bored waiting for your return to cheer you to the finish line as there is entertainment throughout the afternoon starting at 2.30pm and finishing at 7pm. From Jumping castles and Zorb Ball to the presentations for the kids 1k active run.

There are four race events to choose, ranging from the 1k active kids run for children between ages of 0-12 years, 5k run/walk and 10k with age groups from U14 to 60 or the 21k half marathon with age groups from U16 to 60 . Race packs can be collected on the day starting from 2pm-4.45pm so it is recommended you try arriving at the event by 2pm to ensure a closer car park. The first main event to start is the 5k run/walk at 4pm, followed at 4.45pm by the 1k active kids run. The 10k and 21k both start together at 5pm. The only negative about this event is the amount of people starting for the joint event of 10 and 21k. Lining up early will eliminate the hassle of trying to pass many runners who choose to run at a more gentle pace.

So whether you like to walk 5k or run up to 21k, come and join in this awesome afternoon running event. You get a free singlet when registering and receive a medal as you finish your race. If you are first in your age group you are also rewarded with gifts and prizes. Let's enter Spring with a Twilight run for the whole family.
