For those of us who love to visit a local brewery, bar, or cellar door on the weekends, the COVID-19 restrictions have been a little disheartening.
Thankfully, there are still ways you can support the production of your favourite beverages, and operations of local bars, even if you can't pop into their tasting rooms.
23rdonmelbourne have established regular 'Virtual Bars', where you can enjoy a weekend drink from the comfort of your own home. It is easy to tune in, entertaining to watch, and a great way to stay social.
Tuning into the 23rdonmelbourne & Vale Brewing Virtual Bar
Vale Brewing, from South Australia's McLaren Vale region, was one of the most recent brands to jump aboard the Virtual Bar hype. On May 1, they hosted a Virtual Beer Flight and streamed a tasting session.
So far, the 23rdonmelbourne team have run three Virtual Bars, and there are two more planned for the near future.
All Virtual Bar events are free to watch and join, but you need to have a Facebook account to tune in. You'll also need to pre-arrange ingredients, drinks and materials to make sure you're ready to participate.
It is a very challenging time for hospitality businesses across Australia, so it is up to us to keep them afloat and show our support during this unprecedented time. (Plus, you can get some easy Friday night fun while you're at it)
