Owned by the same people who own L Law Hyde Park , Tweety Bird Cafe offers both Asian-inspired cafe-style food and Asian dishes. It was very popular, there was a crowd of a good size when we visited.

The scrambled eggs in the Chilli Prawn Scramble were light and fluffy, and the prawns were cooked just right. The flavour of the sauce was similar to that used in Singapore Chilli Crab and the degree of spiciness was not overwhelming. We were able to have the beansprouts cooked to lessen their raw taste. While not apparent from the dish’s name, the scrambled eggs were served on a slice of toast.

Their Poached Chicken with Fragrant Rice is Hainan Chicken Rice. The chicken still retained some moistness and the chicken rice had the degree of chicken rice flavour we expected. Cucumber, broccoli and bean sprouts provided an element of freshness. The ginger scallion sauce had a delectable ginger flavour and partnered nicely with the chicken. If you like, chicken rice chilli sauce can be requested.

The fried chicken in the Fried Chicken Waffle had succulent flesh and the coating of Nestum, an Asian cereal, gave it a nutty and slightly sweet flavour. The fried egg had a runny yolk and smashed avocado provided a change of texture. The Belgian waffle base was not too sweet and a drizzling of spicy maple syrup completed the dish. Extra ingredients like hash brown can be added at an additional cost for a more filling meal.

When ordering their Malaysian Curry, diners can choose from one of three curries along with roti or rice. The cauliflower in the Tofu & Cauliflower Curry that we chose retained its firmness, which was contrasted by the chunks of tofu. Also included were carrots and potatoes, which were soft with a bit of bite. The spiciness of the curry is suitable for most tastes and the roti that we picked was crisp and light. A small salad provided freshness to the dish.

The pork belly in the Crispy Pork Belly Kampua was crisp with moist flesh, and the green sauce complemented it nicely. Be aware that the chilli sauce has quite a fiery kick. The noodles were cooked al dente and there was enough sauce to ensure it was not dry. Finishing the dish was steamed bok choy, sliced scallions and a 63-degree egg. The egg can be mixed into the noodles to give it more body.

In additional to their menu items, the cafe also offers Malaysian sweets made by fedby_rose. The top layer of pandan custard in the Seri Muka had the firmness that we expected, and the glutinous rice base was not chewy. It also had the degree of pandan flavour that we like. The glutinous rice base was streaked with blue to give it a marbled appearance.

While the pancake wrapper of the Kuih Dadar had many layers, it did not make it too chewy. The filling of coconut cooked with gula melaka (palm sugar) had a flavour similar to brown sugar without being overly sweet.

The decor of the cafe gave it a comfortable feel, and diners have the choice of indoor or outdoor seating. Booking ahead is advised to ensure that you get a table when you visit.
