Apart from the amazing artworks on display, the highlight of any visit to The Tweed Regional Gallery and Cafe is the view overlooking The Tweed River and Mt Warning. I particularly enjoyed catching glimpses of lush countryside out the windows as we wandered through the gallery.
The gallery itself hosts a wide range of travelling exhibitions as well as the permanent Margaret Olley Art Centre, which provided us with plenty of inspiration to sketch the world around us. The gallery collection has over one thousand pieces, some of which are on display at different times during the year. The Tweed Regional Gallery is very child friendly with interactive displays in the Margaret Olley Art Centre and other drawing materials provided near the foyer area.
The Gallery Cafe has been built to make the most of the stunning views and natural light. You are welcome to sit there indoors or on the deck with a simple coffee and cake or enjoy a more substantial lunch - either way, you're in for a treat. I can highly recommend the Goat's Cheese Tart with salad and the kids enjoyed their fish and chips too.
