It's nearly party time again: Murwillumbah will celebrate Taste the Tweed, on Friday 30th September. There will even be music by a famous performer but more about that later.

It's a celebration of our fresh, locally grown food, our farmers, talented chefs and the vibrant food culture of the Tweed Valley.

Locals and tourists have been coming together for 5 years to enjoy the food, music and culture of the Tweed valley, set in an authentic rural community setting.

The stunningly beautiful Tweed Valley in Northern New South Wales, with its rich volcanic soils produces some of the best and most diverse produce in Australia.

Festival organiser, Kerry Turner said the event was an opportunity to showcase the region's chefs and also support the local farmers.

This year is partnering with Destination Tweed to turn Wharf Street in Murwillumbah into a series of outdoor stalls, cafes and restaurants. It will be one big street party.
Remember back when progressive dinners were the go? This is your chance to experience it all again, although this time with a modern twist.
You will be given a Taste the Tweed food trail map, then it's up to you to go to different cafes and restaurants to select the food you'd like. Taste plates are $6 and $12.
Taste plates are swapped for coupons that need to be purchased online or on the night, from designated tents.

Back to the music: there will be a stage at the Queen Street end where a nationally acclaimed performer will delight the crowds. The identity is a secret at the moment but I'm promised we won't be disappointed.

It's a great idea to get your friends together and organise your own party. Bring your foldup chairs, small tables, table cloths and wine glasses and you're ready to celebrate and enjoy the culinary masterpieces that will excite and delight your taste buds.
You can BYO alcohol, however there will also be a Bar showcasing specialty local products.

Seating can be pre-booked for $15 and this gives you a designated seat near the stage without the need to carry your own things and set up.

The Taste the Tweed party is Friday 30th September 6-11pm.

Taste the Tweed also organises a Taste the Tweed Master Class on the first Wednesday of every month. It begins at the Farmers' Market where participants are joined by a local chef and select the fresh, locally grown food they will use in their gourmet meals.

The day commences at 9am at the Murwillumbah Visitors Information centre.

Transfers are available from Tweed Heads and Kingscliff.
Cost: $149. Bookings are essential.

Another regular event Taste the Tweed offers is Explore the Tastes of the Tweed which is run the third Thursday of every month. It's a local paddock to plate experience with visits to local farms and gardens. A relaxed lunch using local ingredients will be eaten at a restaurant in the area.

Meet at 9am at the Murwillumbah Visitor Information Centre.
Cost: $149 includes morning tea, lunch and all touring.
