Next to the escalators, in the Southgate Shopping Complex's atrium, is the Tutto Bene, a stylish Italian restaurant adjacent to the Yarra River. Although it is run by Chef Simon Humble, there's really nothing in a name to suggest anything about the food. Humble would be the least of all words to describe the high grade ingredients used at this restaurant.
Southbank is a dog eat dog world for restaurant owners and there's quite a lot of competition for Tutto Bene with so many other Italian food outlets within the vicinity. That's probably why Mr. Humble has spat out his humble pie and has exchanged it for expertise in risotto. It is his vision that diners would say that Tutto Bene is the best for risotto among its Italian Southbank counterparts.
Competition is also rife among Tutto Bene diners for the outside tables next to the Yarra River. Get there early if you plan to eat alfresco or perhaps consider making a reservation.
