I am an academic and writer living in Melbourne. I love to travel and I also love writing about all the things Melbourne, regional Victoria and other parts of Australia have to offer.
Event: -
Turkey at Queen Vic

Anyone who has been to Turkey knows all about the exciting and bustling street markets and bazaars. And if you haven't been, now you can get a taste of this experience right here in Melbourne at Queen Victoria Market. At the Turkish Pazar Festival, you will experience all the vibrant tastes, colours and sounds of Turkey through food, music, arts and crafts and cultural displays.

There will be food, of course, including tasty gözleme (savoury pancakes), kebabs, lokma (small doughnuts), Turkish Delight and baklava (sweet pastries) among other delicacies. Check here for all the delicious food that will be on offer. Why not try real Turkish coffee prepared in sand and then have your fortune told?

All the entertainment is free, lots of it you can join in and is suitable for people of all ages and abilities. There will be free children's activities, and you could also win a trip to Turkey. The day-long stage program will include overseas and local performers. A highlight on Saturday and Sunday will be the military precision of the colourful Australian Mehter Band, the first Ottoman-style marching band outside Turkey.
