The Moreland Turkish Association have planned a bigger and better event for this year's Turkish Pazar Festival at Queen Victoria Market on Queen St, Melbourne over the weekend of 7-8 March 2020 from 9am to 4pm on the Saturday and 10am to 4pm on Sunday. As in previous years you'll find a full program to entertain you throughout the day. QVM will be transformed into a traditional Turkish bazaar filled with vibrant tastes, colours and sounds.
Enjoy authentic Turkish food, music, dance and cultural displays. If you have never had a Turkish breakfast before, now is the time. There's lots of food stalls that'll tempt the palate or bring back memories of gozleme (savoury pancakes), a variety of kebabs and an assortment of sweet and savoury tastes. A whole new and exciting stage program is in the works with international performers, local musicians and dance groups, folklore and drumming groups and the Australian Mehter Band; the first Ottoman-style marching band outside Turkey performing on Sunday.
All the entertainment is free and there'll be free activities for the kids too, so relax over an authentic Turkish coffee prepared on a hotbed of sand or perhaps get your fortune told, learn about the cultural traditions of Ebru (paint marbling) or buy a new carpet for your home. Stay in touch via the Facebook page for more exciting updates.
