On the weekend of Saturday 11th March and Sunday 12th March the Queen Victoria Market is being transformed in to a traditional Turkish Bazaar. Now in its 10th year, the festival brings all the tastes, colours and sounds of Turkey to Melbourne through food, music, arts & crafts and cultural displays.
To the sounds of special guest musical performances by Aydın Beyoḡlu, Akin Zabit from overseas, and the Australian Mehter Band – the first Ottoman style marching band outside Turkey who will be appearing exclusively on Sunday – guests can enjoy the sounds of Turkey while feasting on some of the traditional gourmet delights.
Sample gozleme, a savoury pancake or kebabs, Turkish styled baked potatoes called kumpir or borek, a sweet and savoury pastry. Then while sipping on a Turkish coffee, relax over a hot bed and sand and have your fortune read.
Local performers will also be appearing and there will be plenty more to see, try and buy at the Queen Victoria Market, corner Elizabeth and Victoria Streets, Melbourne on Saturday 11th March 2017 from 9am to 3pm and Sunday 12th March from 10am to 4pm. Admission to the market is free.
