Give the kids a break from shopping
Stretching along Whitehorse Road between Mitcham and Surrey Hills is Nunawading's Mega Mile a homemaker's paradise!

There are two major shopping areas, Home HQ where shops such as Bed Bath N' Table, Bevmarks, Focus on Furniture & Bedding can be found and Brand Smart, which describes itself as a 'premium outlet centre'. In addition, along both sides of Whitehorse Road is a huge array of shops where just about everything you could wish for in terms of homewares can be found.

That's all well and good, but as every parent will know, shopping with young children can be a challenge! Especially if it entails wandering around bedding shops, or carpet shops or other such exciting places.

If you find yourself dragging a couple of weary youngsters along the Mega Mile, why not take some time out and give everyone a break?

A very short car trip away is Tunstall Park. Located on the corner of Luckie Street and Menck St, Nunawading, Tunstall Park packs a big punch for a small neighbourhood park. There is a large amount of grassed area for a quick run around and a playground with a large spiral slide, double slide, a spinner with hand wheel, a four-person see-saw rocker, four swings and lots more. It has all been nicely landscaped with native vegetation, rocks and soft fall mulch.

Mum and Dad will appreciate a place to sit and the layout of the park is such that keeping an eye on children is very easy. Whilst it isn't fenced, the playground is set back from the road and is quite contained.

The playground has been nicely landscaped.

There are no toilets at the park, so do make sure little ones have been before they go! This park is suitable for kids under 10.

Halliday Park, next to Mitcham Bowling Club is another great one in the area. Fantastic Playground, with equipment, BBQ's (?) i think from memory, picnic tables and a huge grassed park land area, with enormous oaks along the length of one side. There is parking behind the Bowling Club, and toilets (?).
