I'm pretty sure every Ipswich resident rolls their eyes with frustration when they think of the run down Nicholas Street mall in the centre of town. Well folks, I am here to tell you all that is about to change! The grand opening of the redeveloped Nicholas Street Precinct, including Tulmur Place, is on Saturday 28th November 2020. Tulmur Place will be the name of the new civic plaza and means Ipswich in the universal Indigenous language. If you can't make it on Saturday, don't worry, because Ipswich City Council has a whole month of festivities planned.

Program of Events
The excitement runs from 9am until 2pm. The switch will be flicked on the fun new water play zone which is the perfect way to entertain the kids in the shade. There will be free entry, free parking and a load of activities including over 90 amazing Handmade Expo Market stalls, face painting, food trucks, live music and even a visit from the big jolly Santa man himself.

Nicholas Street Redevelopment
There is a website for Nicholas Street Precinct but the most up to date information is on their Facebook page so make sure you subscribe. As if that wasn't enough excitement in one day, the Handmade Expo Markets are having the grand opening of their brand new location as part of the opening celebration of the Nicholas Street Precinct. The Handmade Expo Markets have their own Facebook page. Trust me, you will want to follow them to see all of the stunning handmade items on offer.

Handmade Expo
The grand opening day is the first of many exciting community events in the Nicholas Street Precinct and there will be something for absolutely everyone. The following Saturday 5 December, Nicholas Street will welcome back the Future Flavours Food Fair food truck event, with live, family-friendly entertainment all night. Just two days later, the new Ipswich Central Library will officially open its doors to the public on Monday 7 December.
The Ipswich City Council Nicholas Street Precinct team has a program of family-friendly events to keep little ones, and big ones entertained each and every day between Saturday 28 November and Sunday 20 December 2020. Keep that Facebook page refreshed to see the release of the full events calendar. So no more throwing your hands up in the air when the family says they're bored. Get down to the Nicholas Street Precinct because you'll definitely have some fun.
