Just over the border into NSW, 20 minutes from Canberra's CBD, is the small rural town of Sutton with a population of less than 200 people. During Floriade however, Canberrans and tourists flock to the area to experience the month-long Garden Festival at Tulip Top Gardens.
The property includes ten acres of tulips, daffodils and spring flowers in spectacular bloom to wander through and enjoy. Blossom trees line the path through the property up to a 70 metre viewing platform to look over this picturesque and enchanting setting.
As this is a family-run business they have included some personal touches into the visitor experience. Included in your entry fee is free tea and instant coffee all day as well as a free sausage sandwich between 11.00am – 1.30pm daily. For customers who do not eat meat, a bbq egg sandwich can be provided in lieu of the free sausage sandwich.
Set amongst the gardens there will also be Dutch Pancakes to buy from 10.30am daily. If you happen to be there on the 20th of September it is also "Free Pancake Day". Keep up to date with their latest offers for the month via their Facebook page.
You are welcome to pack a picnic and enjoy it in the gardens, or stop at their Café, with new menu this year...
There will also be live bands playing at different times throughout the month. See here for dates and details.
On the property there is a Plant Nursery (with 10% off on Wednesdays) and specialty gifts at their "Tulip Top Treasures" marquee.
