Have you ever been on a road trip or day trip and realised you have taken the wrong turn? Then you start to frantically add addresses into the GPS ... then you notice that you have just discovered a hidden gem by accident!

Well this is exactly what happened to us. I took a wrong turn and we ended up in the suburb of Magenta with a hidden beach!

Known as Tuggerah Beach, it has one of the most spectacular views of the Tasman Sea and features a short walking track to Wyrrabalong National Park. I was glad I took that wrong turn!

It is a little difficult to get to if you are not familiar with this area; the best way to get to it from Sydney is to take the Central Coast Hwy / Wilfred Barrett Drive, then take the right turn into Magenta Drive where you are welcomed by pretty gardens and beautiful Flora.

Continue down the road till you reach the end of it and you will find a carpark. From there you will find a wooden pathway to the beach and the walking track.

It has one of the most amazing views with the different ocean shades of blues combining together. During the whale migration season you may be able to spot whales on their journey.

I am not sure if they patrol the area (at the time that we were there I did not see any patrols / life guards) so do be careful as the seas can get rough.

According to one of the locals we met, it is one of the best fishing spots you can get here.

It is definitely a place to go and relax, have a picnic and fish! And if you are lucky enough, you might get the whole entire beach to yourself or with one local who likes to fish in his Speedos!
