In this presentation, Books within Books, Dr Kiera Lindsey will talk about the 'factually informed but imaginatively conceived' way she has written her forthcoming coming speculative biography Wild Love: The exceptional life of Adelaide Ironside (1831-1867), Australia's first female painter which will be published with Allen & Unwin in November 2023.

With this Tuesday Talk, Kiera will talk more about the books which have inspired her own writing life as a historian and biographer who uses 'informed imagination' and 'speculative methods' to re-present the lives of Australian women who lacked the education, economics or influence to leave much a historical record. For Kiera, the ends justify the means when it comes to using fictional technics to resurface otherwise shadowy stories and silenced women.
