Escape the concrete jungle of the city and go back in time to the schoolyard at this whimsical cafe, aptly named Tuckshop time.

Located in Woolloongabba, only a short 10 minutes from the city along the busy Logan Road, this cafe is hidden underneath one of many new apartment complexes in the area.

It has a delightful outdoor grassy area with a variety of sitting arrangement, including bean bags for that inner-city picnic feel.

We enjoyed a sunny Saturday breakfast here and arriving around 8.30 am, we probably beat the brunch time rush. The menu is quite varied and caters to all dietary choices including vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free and offers a twist on old favourites.

Ordering at the Tuckshop 'canteen' you are bombarded with many choices of pre-made sandwiches, bagels, croissants, cakes and muffins.

We ordered from the all-day breakfast menu. My son ordered the Breakfast Bagel, which generously had double bacon, mild chilli scrambled eggs, caramelised onions, double swiss cheese and house-made BBQ sauce for $14.90.

I was delighted with my selection of Sweet Potato smashed avo (Sweet potato toast topped with smashed avocado, housemade almond feta, herbs and cherry tomatoes for $17.90).

My mum was adventurous for her and ordered the Mushroom Toast (a medley of marinated mushrooms on sweet potato toast with herbed hummus, fried shallots, green and kale chips for $17.90)

She also was intrigued by the salted caramel latte, which she also enjoyed.

Opened 7 days from 6am, you can enjoy breakfast, brunch or lunch here. Or if you wanted to satisfy your sweet tooth, there was a lot on offer including waffle pops, GF cakes, Nutella pizza or large yummy looking banana and peanut butter muffins which were on display near where I ordered.

Parking is free undercover and I would suggest that for a larger group that you may benefit from booking a table online on their webpage.

Overall, we were very happy with our discovery of this quiet little cafe in amidst the busyness of the city. An enjoyable time out for fresh and yummy food.
