A cafe, pie-house and deli that does exactly what it says
The Tuck Shop Cafe Pie House and Delicatessen is aptly named, serving up a variety of cold and cooked breakfast and brunch options, specialty house-prepared pies, cakes and muffins, and selling a range of deli items. They also serve Toby's Estate coffee for the caffeine lovers among us, and do freshly pressed juices.

Located on Newcastle Street in Northbridge, this tucked away gem of a cafe was very popular when it opened around three years ago, attracting queues of people at brunch-time every weekend, and it seems that nothing has changed.

The fuss-free and warm interior

We arrived just before 10am on a Sunday morning and were told we had to wait 15 mins for a table. Thankfully for my rumbling tummy they were pretty accurate with the timing and we were seated at our table by a quarter past. Our coffee order was taken immediately and came out within minutes of ordering. I ordered the classic poached eggs on toast with a side of bacon, and my partner in dine ordered the sautéed mushrooms and spinach on toast. When our food did finally arrive (there was a big of a wait due to the endless throng of customers) it was very tasty and the serves were big.

The service style was slightly unusual: only one staff member in the cafe takes orders so it was a little hard to ask questions about the meals and to get our order taken. Despite being politely moved on from our table straight after eating and finishing our coffees (clearly to accommodate the peering hungry faces outside) I'd happily go back to the Tuck Shop Cafe because the food was fresh and delicious, and the atmosphere was full of that certain buzz that makes Sunday brunches out extra special.

If you like the look of our gorgeous food do keep in mind that the menu changes frequently to account for what fresh produce is available. There are also daily specials on the blackboard. To find out more about Tuck Shop and it's offerings check out their website, or call or drop in at 178 Newcastle Street, Perth.
