Even if you've never tried bubble tea before, you've probably seen it. It is served in a plastic cup with a great big straw, and you can often see round black bits floating in the bottom. Those who aren't familiar with the drink might be a bit confused with the different options and flavours, so learn a bit more about it and where in Adelaide you can find it.

Bubble Tea is actually an American name for the drink that originated in Taiwan, the 'Pearl Milk Tea' can often be found under the name of Milk Tea or Pearl Tea. It is a tea based drink with milk that is then flavoured using fruit, chocolate, or other flavours. The drink is usually served cold, but you can get it hot. The taste around Adelaide is usually pretty similar, but you're best trying it out everywhere and finding your favourite.

Chinese Cuisine - David Jones Food Hall

Stop off here if you're wanting to grab a plate of noodles to eat with your bubble tea. They have loads of flavour to choose from and you can pick whether you want pearl (tapioca) or jelly in the bottom of your drink. You can even change the flavour of your jelly. They use a machine to mix your bubble tea, and one to place a sealed plastic lid on the drink.

Pearl Tea - China Town

This hole in the wall is another great place to grab some tea. You can even choose between large or small pearls, or pick the flavour of your jelly. These guys don't use a nifty machine to shake your drink, which takes away a little of the fun, but they do have one to put the lid on. The tea still tastes just as good. Unfortunately their cups don't have any fun designs so that is a bit boring, the straws come wrapped in plastic which is a plus, but they don't come in colours. Pearl Tea has got all the flavour, but not as much fun.

Teaz - Myer Centre

Teaz in the Myer Centre serves bubble tea as well as other smoothies, shakes, and sushi. Like the other places it has all of the flavours for your tea, and jelly if you choose to have it. Like Chinese Cuisine you get a fun decorated cup, either with cute characters or a witch on a broomstick. These guys have got all the bangs and whistles to make your bubble tea fun.

Chatime - Rundle Mall

Head to Chatime if you're after the premium bubble tea experience. Choose between flavours and additions, as well as adding toppings like red bean. These guys are all about customising your drink so that it is just right, this includes adding more or less ice, and choosing the level of sweetness you want in your drink. Unfortunately where Chatime fall short is with their cups and straws, they are bland without any adorable characters or fun colours, so your experience might not be as fun. It is a little bit more expensive than some of the other places.

Grabbing a bubble tea will usually set you back about $4.50-$5.50. It is a refreshing drink, and usually the flavour isn't as strong as other drinks with the same flavours. So if you've never tried it before make sure you give it a go, and you might be another bubble tea convert.
