A food and wine extravaganza
Now in its third year, Truffle Kerfuffle is a popular one day festival showcasing regional food and wine. Held in Manjimup, at Fonty's Pool, on Saturday 22nd June, 2013, this event always attracts loads of people and this year will be no exception.
About 70% of the black truffles produced by Australia can be found in Western Australia's Southern Forests region. Truffles are a delicacy - highly prized, quite rare and very expensive.
A series of different events are held during the festival including a Truffle Hunt with trained truffle dogs, forty minute Master Class sessions, Meet and Mingle with some of the top writers, chefs and winemakers in Australia, truffle expert Dr Frederick Boulet, celebrity chefs, Gala Dinners, food and wine tastings and much more.
One of the highlights of the Truffle Kerfuffle 2013 will be the cooking demonstrations. The Master Classes give 'foodies' a chance to sample truffle dishes and local produce, collect some truffle recipes, learn how to cook truffles, or take part in the cooking classes. There are some great cooking classes organised for kids too. Some of the celebrity chefs appearing this year will include Hadleigh Troy (from Restaurant Amusť), Shane Osborn, Shane Watson, David Coomer (from Pata Negra), Sven Hug and Simon Bryant (from the TV series The Cook & the Chef).
The Truffle Kerfuffle festival gives you the chance to try truffles. Wander around, at your leisure, and sample some of the local produce, enjoy food and wine tastings, collect truffle recipes, learn how to match food and wine, and much, much more.
Buy your own commemorative Truffle Kerfuffle wine glass for only $10.00 and use it to try some of the region's most amazing wines.
As part of the Truffle Kerfuffle festival there will be a wonderful four course Gala Dinner on Friday 21st June and Saturday 22nd June. The menu offers some mouth-watering dishes, featuring the region's black truffles, all prepared by some of Western Australia's top chefs. Tickets for the Gala Dinners are $180.00 each. Bookings are essential, as seating is limited, and can be made on-line at the Truffle Kerfuffle website.
Entry tickets for Truffle Kerfuffle 2013 can be bought at the gate on the day of the event for $20.00 per person. Children under the age of twelve years can enter free if accompanied by an adult. Tickets can also be booked on-line and will cost $15.00 per person, this price includes a program.
So come along to Truffle Kerfuffle 2013 and enjoy a fun day of food and wine indulgence, in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. You'll be glad you did.
