What has six legs, two guitars, three heads, flawless harmonies, over 100 hit songs, an ARIA award and the adoration of thousands of fans here and abroad? It's the band who redefine triple threat with their outstanding singing, dancing, and joking skills – Tripod.

Scod, Yon, and Gatesy, the internationally acclaimed, multiple award winning, funny guys were in Brisbane for the Comedy Festival Gala and took the time to tell us all about their forthcoming tour 101 Hits which is on at Powerhouse in March for Brisbane Comedy Festival.

"This show we're doing is entirely random every night," explained Scod (Scott Edgar), "We've got a bingo barrel with ping pong balls…"

"We can't blame ourselves for a bad show," joked Gatesy (Steven Gates).

Scod laughed, "It's the fates!"

This tour will see Tripod take to the stage with a barrel of numbered ping pong balls, with each number representing one of their hilarious comedy songs. Each night the gents will be pulling numbers at random to determine which song is played next. Every show will be unique and exciting not only for fans but also for the group themselves. It's a clever way of keeping the act fresh as they celebrate 20 years performing together.

"We've had to kind of relearn so much of our old stuff and there's five songs from the show that we did last year – these were songs written for an orchestra – so we were rehearsing them the other day just getting really angry with ourselves for writing such complicated material," Gatesy explained.

"Because we wrote them knowing that we wouldn't have to play them," Yon (Simon Hall) added.

They're referring to last year's brilliant collaboration with Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, This Gaming Life that was described as, "Tripod, award-winning composer Austin Wintory and the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra's love letter to gamers and all who put up with them."

Tripod know how to keep themselves busy. Aside from touring, TV and radio appearances, interviews with weirdos like me, CDs, DVDs, musicals, and brilliant musical collaborations, Scod, Yon, and Gatesy have also just started a regular podcast Perfectly Good Podcast with Andrew Pogson of Melbourne Symphony Orchestra.

"We'd been talking for a long while about making a podcast and sort of tossing around ideas," Scod explained, "but having a fourth person there bouncing off us and talking about songwriting and talking about the showbiz career and everything, it just made it less hermetic."

Tripod have also just released a songbook called '101 Tripod Hits' and you'll be glad to know it comes complete with guitar chords so you can play them at parties for drunken sing along fun times. Audiences heading along to their shows at the Powerhouse from the 8th to the 13th of March will be able to pick up a copy from the merch' stand, but you can also order it online from the lads' website.

Tickets to see Tripod at Brisbane Comedy Festival are going for a song when you consider you're getting three comedians for the price of one! Book now via the Powerhouse's website.
