What are your favourite songs of 2014?
Whether you're planning to keep cool in your blow up pool, have some lamb chops on the barbie or play some backyard cricket, make sure your Australia Day also includes the Triple J Hottest 100.

This musical tradition has been going for over 25 years and it's become a favourite past-time for all music lovers, especially those who support Australian artists. You can vote for your top 10 favourite songs before 18th January to have your picks count in the top 100 songs of the year. Cast your vote and you could win a year of free gigs - that's worth taking the time to sit down and chalk up 10 favourites.
Our Australia Day starts at 11am when number 100 is played and we sit around with friends and family for the entire day with all the radios blaring to ensure we don't miss a trick. Some years we make the event into a game by having all guests write down their top 10 picks and give points to those whose songs are in the Hottest 100 (usually 5 points if they pick songs 100 - 11 and 10 points for any in the top 10). Make sure you have a prize ready for the winner if you're hosting.
It's a great addition to your usual Australia day festivities and even if you're not a Triple J listener usually, you might find some great new music to love.
If you're not wanting to host a party or you want to head out for the day instead, there are heaps of great venues which will have the music blaring and your food and drink needs covered.

This is a party for the younger types and those without kids in tow and with a vegemite eating contest and free body painting you are assured of a fun party afternoon and night.
The Fox Hotel - Sponsored by Stone and Wood, there's a bit of merchandise on offer for cheap at this inner city venue for Australia Day. Playing the Js all day for your Hottest 100 fix and serving ice cold drinks and a fabulous upmarket menu, you'll feel like you're partying in style at The Fox.
