Anyone who's used a dating app to try to find love in 2019 knows that it can be a bizarre and unsettling world out there. Trio of Dips (Alexandra Aldrich, Joachim Coghlan, and Christian Gillett) navigate this messy and frankly nightmarish world in Love Me Tinder, an hour of entertaining pop and musical theatre classics lamenting the difficulty of finding love (or even a decent date) in the modern world.

Trio of Dips: Love Me Tinder is a light, humorous cabaret about three Tinder addicts Baba Ganoush (Christian Gillett), Taramasalata (Alexandra Aldrich), and Tzatziki (Joachim Coghlan) and their dating escapades. They have a lot of songs about a lot of stories - from stalkers to taboo kinks to elusive men who seem to be "the one" (but probably aren't) - in short, everything except happy endings. While these stories seem wild and dramatic (as anything would if it was helped along by the music of Stephen Sondheim and Whitney Houston), they're also surprisingly not far off from reality, and will resonate with anyone who has had to encounter the risks and uncertainty of trying to date strangers through apps.

The show is a catchy, bright, visually and aurally engaging hour. Aldrich, Coghlan and Gillett are all energetic performers with powerful singing voices that (along with their excellent accompanying pianist) do justice to the choice of music in this show. Their costumes are colourful and cute - bathrobes and head towels in the first half, and bright sequinned outfits with shiny turbans in the second half. There isn't a lot of depth in this show - a lot of cliched innuendoes, no fleshed out characters or well-formed plot - but that doesn't take away from its entertainment value. The performers, especially wide-eyed Aldrich, are expressive and easy to lock attention to, and they throw in a couple of big surprises, especially in Gillett's performance, that keep the excitement levels up.

Love Me Tinder is an enjoyable late evening show that can definitely help you see the humorous side of a bleak situation, and through good music, bright performances, and a drink from the bar at The Butterfly Club, help you relax at the end of a long day.
