The Tribeca Film Festival is an annual event. The 2011 Festival is being held from April 20 until May 20.

The Festival began in 2001, when Robert De Niro along with some friends of his, founded it to help Lower Manhattan recover from the devastating effects of September 11, 2001. Its intention is to bring movies, both domestic and international, that represent every genre of filmmaking to New York City, so that they might be viewed by as wide a representative audience as possible.

The Festival is extremely popular with celebrities, so if you go to the Tribeca Film Festival (the public can purchase tickets starting around mid-March), there's no telling who you might see. Speaking of tickets, they do vary in price, but depending on which screenings you attend, you may find yourself paying less than you would for a ticket at a regular movie theatre.
