Trevena Glen Farm is a family-run business, and was first established in 1985. It is located in the foothills of the spectacular D'Aguilar Range, in Mount Samson – a 40-minute drive from Brisbane, along some of the most scenic countryside in the region. This lush farm is host to a friendly, family-focused open day, held on the first Saturday of each month.
The kids will love to escape the city and witness real farm-life, and Trevena Glen is the perfect school-holiday, or weekend event. You can teach your kids about life in the country and taking care of animals, and give them the opportunity to enjoy the outdoors during these cooler months.
Trevena Glen Farm goes out of its way to accommodate every one in the family. They have a barbeque with sausage sizzle, and a most-needed coffee van. There are also picnic tables available, but get there early if you want to snag one!
The activity options for the kids is a smorgasbord, with jumping castles and play equipment, tractor wagon rides, and interaction with the animals all included in the entry fee.
The children can enjoy patting and feeding all of the farmyard animals. There are chickens, ducks, guinea pigs, sheep, goats, cows, miniature horses, and even a resident donkey. Occasionally, there will be baby animals too, like chicks and lambs.
The farm doesn't just host open days. They also offer farm stay accommodation, where you can pitch a tent and camp, or stay in their newly-renovated "party shed", which boasts two bedrooms, and includes feeding and handling of animals and horses during your stay.
Horse-riding lessons are also available with one of the farm owners, Katie Rooke, who has a Level III Equestrian Sports Coach qualification. Find more information about their lessons here on the website.
The team at Trevena Glen Farm can even organise your child's next birthday party, which is a pretty special way to celebrate, if you ask me. They can provide you with exclusive use of the "party shed", catering, party bags, decorations, games and most of the activities that happen on open day.
There is limited parking at the farm, but there is ample parking down at the local school, and the farm runs a free shuttle bus to-and-fro.
The next open day dates at the farm are:
Saturday 2nd of July
Saturday 6th of August
Saturday 3rd of September
Saturday 1st of October
Saturday 5th of November
Saturday 3rd of December
