Typical Gemini, with the concentration span of a gnat & not one for sitting still. My old Da used to say that "you're a long time dead". So my mantra is get busy living. Please join me for more at brizzymaysbooksandbruschettasite.wordpress.com
Event:
Swap weeds for a tree - I said weeds, not weed
Did you know that invasive weeds are among the most serious threats to Australia's natural environment? Weeds displace native species, contribute significantly to land degradation, cause damage to our waterways and reduce farm and forest productivity.

Our local councils spend considerable time and money each year in combating weed problems and protecting ecosystems on public land.

Are you aware that some of the worst weeds found in our native bushlands have escaped from gardens? When this happens weeds can reproduce and aggressively invade natural habitats, crowding out and threatening native plants.

Spring is the perfect time to don your gardening combat gear - gloves, hat and sunscreen - and eliminate the weeds from your personal patch of turf.

Indigiscapes Native Nursery at Runnymede Road, Capalaba, is encouraging battles in backyards across the Redlands by holding a Weeds For Trees Day for residents on the mainland on Saturday, 7th September, 2019. From 9am till 1pm on this day, you will be able to exchange a shopping bag full of weeds for a native plant far better suited to the local environment. (Limit of five free trees).

Weeds at the top of the Most Wanted List include Devils Fig, Singapore Daisy and Salvinia though all weeds will be taken as prisoners.

Sometimes you have to choose your battles. This is one we can win.
