Meeting up with a yummy mummy at The Treehouse, a place I've never been, I'm imagining a ramshackle structure made of wood with kids climbing all over it. What I find is an escape from the bustle of North Sydney and a playful tree house courtyard with an Alice in Wonderland feel, with the candy-striped upholstered benches perfect for lounging at lunch or for a drink with the work crowd. I see velour chaises and over-sized chandeliers that give the illusion of fantasy and space with an eclectic collection of pieces ranging from gargoyles to vintage gates.
It's busy during the lunch hour so I recommend lunch here if you have time up your sleeve.
My eyes hover over their most popular dish, the steak sandwich. With a few steak sandwiches on the tables around us served up on a wooden platter with thick cut chips, I couldn't go past it. It's a perfect fit of toasty bread, tender chargrilled steak, caramelised onions, lettuce and tomato, complete with aioli and relish trimmings beautifully put together. And, did I mention the delicious thick cut salty, crispy chips?
