I love slow travel, slow food and discovering new adventures and delicious regional food in new locations. I'm on an indulgent quest and I'd love you to follow at www.walkeatshare.wordpress.com

Take the grandchildren along in school holidays
A recent visit to Middleton Arts and Crafts reminded me of days gone by when I'd visit the CWA shop with Nana. I loved those visits. Something about handmade goods made me feel all happy and glossy.

I came across another delightful craft shop not far from Middleton. It's called Treasures and Trains and it's in nearby Goolwa.

This craft shop is on the train platform, where you can catch the Cockle Train or the Steam Ranger.

It has the usual hand knitted baby clothes, jumpers and scarves in a myriad colours and designs.

As well as taste-tempting jams, chutneys, pickles, biscuits and handmade chocolates.

Everything is reasonably priced, especially when you consider the time, thought and energy that has gone into each individual item.

When I saw the colourful array of toys an idea sprang to mind; maybe my granddaughters would enjoy a visit here as much as I did when I visited the CWA with Nana.

My two little gems are coming to stay in the holidays and I'm thinking I could give them each some spending money and we could come shopping at Treasures and Trains. Maybe after a Cockle Train ride. I know they'd love the knitted teddies.

Since both are readers, they might like a bookmark to remind them of Goolwa.

Perhaps they could shop for Mother's Day and buy Mum a tea cosy (she loves cups of teas).

Dad's a bit of a golfer so a golf towel might be a good gift.

Or a snuggly beanie for Grandad.

There are some special handicrafts, made by talented locals, that are out of most children's price range but definitely suitable for adults searching for a unique gift.

I particularly loved the various headlight creations at Treasures and Trains.

The craft shop is open from 10am until 4pm during the school holidays, a little less often at other times, and is well worth a visit.
