Renovators, collectors and bargain hunters will find much to like at these markets, where one man's trash is another man's treasure - literally.
Every year,
thousands of tonnes of reusable and recyclable items end up in Queensland landfill . The Moreton Bay Regional Council, understanding that something doesn't become garbage just because it ends up at the dump, seeks to rectify that.
are held at Caboolture (51 McNaught Road) and Dakabin (336 Old Gympie Road) waste facilities every day from Tuesday to Sunday. Between 10am and 2pm, visitors can browse a wide range of items for unwanted but still very useful items, including household furniture and appliances, building materials like timber, doors and windows, recreational vehicles like bicycles and canoes, collectables, and a small selection of good quality clothing. Both facilities accept EFTPOS and cash.
NB – due to the ongoing pandemic, the markets may at times have to limit capacity or restrict the number of items a customer can purchase. Masks are highly recommended, even when not required by law.
You can plan your day by checking out the live stream on the
Caboolture Waste Management and
Dakabin Waste Management websites to avoid busy times.
And while you're in the area, Caboolture Treasure Market is located on the same street, kind of just around the corner, from the
Warplane Museum .
