Easily reached via either the M4 Motorway or the Great Western Highway, and situated on the edge of the Blacktown area, the Travelodge BlacktownHotel is only a 3.9kms (5 mins by car) away from the Eastern Creek Raceway (since renamed in honour of racing legend, Sir Jack Brabham) and apart from one fairly expensive other, is the closest hotel to the Raceway. It is also boasts the Featherdale Wildlife Park and Parramatta with all of its history, as near neighbours.

This hotel lacks nothing and during my stay appeared to have no difficulty in coping with the volume of motor racing enthusiasts from interstate and overseas visiting for the Muscle Car Masters being held on that weekend. However, adjoining the hotel is the Blacktown Workers Club with supporting facilities (which cater for all ages) including restaurants, sporting clubs and a courtesy mini bus. Check-in is 2pm and check-out 10am, but these times can be negotiated and staff are more than happy to store your luggage, while you enjoy the hotel's leisure facilities.

The reception area is large and accommodates both a lounge and a workstation/office area. The view through any window leads to the carefully tended gardens and the breakfast room seating gives the choice of padded benches, small tables and chairs and bar stools at bench tops. Baby high chairs fulfil the needs of the little ones. Just outside, the Breakfast Room is an outdoor dining area facing out towards the gardens.

The standard rooms are modern and well presented with excellent extras. Guest Rooms offer a queen bed, kitchenette with microwave, fridge, tea & coffee making items, heating and air-conditioning along with LCD TV, Foxtel, in-room movies and broadband internet access. The décor includes modern abstract art, small dining suite, three seater lounge and the standard cabinets and hanging space together with a modern bathroom. For the meagre price of $114.75/night (utilising a 15% 2 night package), this is extremely good value for money.

The Piece De Resistance is the buffet breakfast. Apart from the standard cereals, fruit and juices, the selection includes very well prepared scrambled eggs, bacon, sausages, mushrooms, tomato and baked beans. Wending your way down the foodie trail and arriving at the toast and jam section, you'll be pleasantly surprised to find the automatic pancake maker. The golden treats topple off the mini conveyor belt onto your plate and the maple syrup is near at hand. The astute among you will have by now worked out that I am more than partial to both the sport of motor racing and the pleasure of pancake eating. This enjoyable start to the day is topped off with a make your own cappuccino/latte and it's all for $15 per person.

This is definitely one of the best value for money hotels that I've stayed at, so much so that I have already booked for next year while the motor sport event is on again. No deposit is required and you may cancel up until 24 hours beforehand without incurring any cancellation fee. Advance purchase packages and bookings made on line do not incur a surcharge, nor does EFTPOS or cash. All credit cards attract a 15% surcharge.

During certain times of the year, this 4 star hotel books out fairly quickly, so if you're contemplating staying in the area now is the time to book, either on-line or by phone.
