A glorious tour through the North-West's magnificent country
Travelling in Australia's North-West is a visual journey through several places in the Pilbara.

It shows photographs taken by professional photographer Lawrence Marshall of Tom Price, Paraburdoo, the Karijini National Park, Munjina, Cossack, Wittenoom and places in between.
The author-photographer has a connection with Wittenoom as he was the only photographer present during the dismantling of Wittenoom and his pictures of buildings like the Fortescue Hotel, the General Store and Wittenoom Gorge have a special power and intensity.

There are over 130 colour photographs in the book, the majority of which have never been seen before.
According to the author Travelling In Australia's North-West evolved from the assignment to photographically document the dismantling of Wittenoom in 1995.
The landscape photography in the book is more recent. The author lived in Tom Price and was able to photograph the ruggedly beautiful topography around there.
Marshall says "It seems the notion of 'landscape' is etched in our subconscious. It was something the first settlers faced, a concept as vast as the land itself. Even today, distance is unchanged. The rawness of outback lifestyle is presented in the Book with uncompromising candour. This confrontation with space and isolation is not for the faint hearted. "
