Tell me your preferred trashy shows below, no judgement here
Do you ever have those moments, when you're just so tired, physically or emotionally, that you want to watch something that doesn't require any attention or brainpower? Or maybe you have a hobby such as sewing or drawing; perhaps something else that's quiet, and you want to watch or listen to something in the background? Something that allows you to keep doing whatever you're doing, but is still entertaining? That's exactly why I'm writing this article. Sometimes, you can't always look up when doing some activities, so it can feel good to listen to some sort of show. It might not be anything that you'd ever normally watch, I know that for most of this list, that's definitely the case for me. Please feel free to judge me for this nonsense, it's not something I'd normally watch without doing some sort of onerous task, but it does help the time pass faster.

1. House Rules

This Aussie renovation show is great to actually watch, not just when you can glance at it from time to time. Often visually appealing, some of those house transformations can be breathtaking. You also can learn a lot about style (especially if you know nothing about interior design). The drama is quite amusing, and you get to know the characters by the end of each season. There are a few seasons of House Rules and it's available on catch-up television if you want to see it.

2. The Last Resort

A super dramatic show that's just finished its first season. It's about couples who are trying to repair their relationships at a luxury retreat together, with the help of professionals. It follows their journey for a month at the retreat and follows up with the results four months after it. Visually appealing, you may want to glance at this one from time to time as well. The show is set on a gorgeous resort and features four very attractive couples. I loved to watch this one while cooking dinner, and the beautiful people made it all the more encouraging to cook healthier meals.

3. 7 Year Switch

Another dramatic delight. Multiple seasons of this one exist. It's about couples who switch significant others for a few weeks and see what it's like on the other side is the grass really greener? They aim to learn about themselves, and there's usually lots of drama. It's available to watch on catch-up TV.

4. Married at First Sight

This show is about a "social experiment", where "specialists" pair two randoms together and see if they hit it off. The twist is that the first time they see each other, they get "married" and live their lives like a couple. Totally trashy, this series is funny and light-hearted. This one is great if you're doing some sewing or ironing.

5. Please Marry My Boy

I only saw one Australian season of this. Australian actress Ada Nicademou presented this cringe-worthy trashtastic show. I cringe just thinking about it, and it was dramatic and fantastic. I highly recommend it if you can find it it's super awkward. More information is available on the official site.

6. Any number of deliciously trashy shows on YouTube

If you search for reality TV on YouTube right now, I can almost guarantee that you'll find it. There are a number of trashy reality shows there which you can watch for free. Fantastic timewasters include things like My Strange Addiction and Supersize vs Superskinny. There is some diversity on YouTube, with my personal preference being for British shows. I guess they're the closest thing to us (at least phonetically).

7. Documentaries on YouTube

Having a rough day? Why not improve it by watching a documentary and learning something? Alternatively, if you're feeling like a hit of drama, you can watch a true crime documentary. Many of these are on YouTube.

I hope that this list has given you some ideas for trashy shows to binge-watch. What are your favourite shows to watch or listen to while you're doing something quiet that could use some trashtastic television in the background?
