If you're looking for second hand or pre-loved goods, there's no better place to start than with Trash & Treasure Markets. It is the largest open air chattel markets operator in Australia. It runs 3 markets in Victoria and also has a market in Preston NSW, less than an hour's drive from Sydney. This pioneer of the concept of Trash & Treasure market started back in 1967 in Melbourne with the objective of providing a legal platform for the sale of second goods. The market makes it easy for the public to offer their unwanted crafts, hobbies and goods to buyers and swappers.

A visit to any of the Trash & Treasure markets is like going to a mass garage sale at one location. You will find all sorts of products from bric-a-brac, toys, glassware, furniture, shoes, clothing, electrical items, antiques, collectables and even fruits and vegetables. Not all the items on sale are pre-loved. Some stalls are offering new goods and there's always a bargain to be found. It operates every Sunday with buyers and sellers haggling and bartering over goods on offer. So take the family out for a interesting morning of rummaging and browsing at the Trash & Treasure markets.
It's years since I've been to this type of large scale trash and treasure market. My husband and I visited one in Warwick Qld last year which was on a smaller scale and run in conjuction with the pig and calf sales which were themselves an experience.
