Flying high – the best high
No matter what circus you've been to, the flying trapeze artists are there swinging and hanging up high, with you in awe of their strength and balance. Have you ever thought about doing it yourself though? Well you can at Sydney Olympic Park with the people from Circus Arts. All you need is to park the fear and embrace the adventurer in you.
Learn new skills and get fit at the same time with this 10 week flying challenge, beginning in May. The environment is as safe as you can get and fun is on the agenda. First you will receive expert instruction at the briefing and begin on the low practice bar, acquiring basic trapeze positions.
Each class runs for an hour and a half, with you taking on more and more each week. In the safety of a harness you'll progress through your first swing, master a knee hang and back flip onto the catching net. You'll fly your way into health and happiness with a toned body and a sense of achievement you didn't envisage.
Your personal limits will be tested, your flexibility will increase and you'll come across trapeze terms – whip, planch and hocks off – that will have you curious and wondering what you're getting into. Only kidding, it's all good. The thing about these classes is that you can do it at your own pace and not feel pressured.
This challenge takes place near the Aquatic Centre and if you're not sure about how you'll go with this then you can try one class and decide if you're up for more or not. A single class is $66 and the 10 week challenge is $330 per person. You can book by phoning 0412 402742 or going online.
