From horse trams to electric trams, the city of Melbourne has literally come a long way. You just cannot imagine this city without its iconic trams. The 'Transport Art ' project was commissioned in the later part of the 20th century to commemorate this romance between the city and its trams.

About 36 artists from Lin Onus to Mental as Anything were put to work to come up with their contribution. This gave rise to a movable art program that showcased the various milestones in this historic journey. The year 2013 marks the 35th anniversary of this artistic commemoration.

This is your chance to see this illustrated timeline and marvel at the history of Melbourne trams. Visit the Old Treasury Building to see this exhibition that takes you back to the future from the time of horse trams,. This is a free event starting from the 17th of December 2012. You can get more details here about the Moving Pictures exhibition.
