Sun 23 Apr 2017
On Sunday 23 April 2017, from 10.00am to 2.00pm, the South West Rail and Heritage Centre's will bring together artisans from various traditional trades demonstrating old skills rarely seen today. The event, to be held in beautiful Boyanup, is proudly supported by the South West Development Commission and entry is by donation.
The Western Australian Craft Bookbinders return this year. Come along and find out more about this ancient craft as demonstrated by artisans who have acquired the skills and knowledge to produce gorgeous bound books.
Other crafts include wood turning, bookbinding, toy making, paper folding, lacemaking and weaving, sewing and rag rug making and much more. Visitors will have the opportunity to chat with the artisans and to learn more about the skills being demonstrated. In some cases, visitors will also be able to purchase their products.
As a bonus, permanent residents of the SWRHC, the Boyanup Foundation Blacksmiths, the Preston River Old Machinery Group and Rail Heritage WA's skilled carriage and locomotive restoration volunteers will be operating, along with the South West Model Railway Group.
Light refreshments will also be available from the Picnic Van and, of course, the traditional sausage sizzle.
