The
is a scenic family-friendly way to get to Taronga Western Plains Zoo, whilst enjoying the fresh air and sights of Dubbo. The cycleway is one of Dubbo's many
popular cycling routes .
Named for Alec 'tracker' Riley, who was the first Aboriginal tracker to reach the rank of Sergeant. The 13km circuit connects the central business district of Dubbo to the historic Dundullimal Homestead via Taronga Western Plains Zoo.
The route is scenic and interesting with some signage relating to historic events and places. There are a few access points in various parks as it is on both sides of the Macquarie River. Most of the cycleway is paved with a gentle gradient and some inclines on the approach and exit to the bridges.
I was surprised that we did not encounter more people on the shared path as it is a lovely time efficient way to get to the zoo. On Saturday mornings, this is not the case though, as the Dubbo parkrun participants share the path from 8am for their free weekly timed 5km run/walk.
When in Dubbo take some time out to cycle or walk the !
