The 2019 dates for the Hawthorn Town Hall Gallery After Dark events have been released.
Having tried this popular event last year, I think it is a great social atmosphere for anyone who loves architecture, art, a social drink and mingling.

It is also a chance to experience this beautiful building hall lit up in the evening. Hawthorn Town Hall was originally designed by architect John Beswicke in the Second Empire style and was completed in 1890.
Second Empire architecture has detailed ornamentation and decorative details featuring such as towers, balustrades, ornate cornices and embellished windows.
Apart from the Hawthorn Arts Centre, other important examples in Melbourne include the Hotel Windsor and the Princess Theatre.
The old town hall was reopened in 2013 after $17.9 million had been spent on redeveloping it. Virtually every square metre of the building had undergone a stunning refurbishment and beautiful gallery and function spaces were created.
These after-dark events on selected Friday nights showcase some of the best art in the eastern region. The Arts Bar is open for drinks and the exhibition curators and artists are close by to enlighten you on the artworks before you.
There is also live music to add to the atmosphere and immersive activities for you to explore.
Entry is free and allows you access to the Town Hall Gallery exhibition spaces and the live music, as well as The Emporium where you can purchase handmade gifts by local artisans. They create some stunning and inexpensive pieces.
So grab your friends and start your Friday nights at the Town Hall Gallery After Dark.
The Town Hall is just a short walking distance from public transport including trams and nearby Glenferrie station. The fabulous Lido cinema close by, as well as a wide selection of pubs and restaurants. One I like for the views over Melbourne is Santoni Italian restaurant, which is right next door to the Hawthorn Town Hall.
