Town & Country Garden Centre is a nursery, fine food cafe and gift shop all rolled into one! A surprise find down the end of Whitehorse Road in Balwyn. You can quite easily spend the day in the gift shop looking at all the beautiful French provincial style homewares, furniture, books, ceramic mugs, cushions, throws or searching for that perfect gift.
David & Megan Cripps purchased Town and Country Gardens in Malvern back in 1991. It was a modest garden centre with potential, and the new owners introduced new staff, products, ongoing professional development and top of the range service to customers and Town and Country Gardens soon became "Malvern's Nursery". In 1999, the Cripps' purchased Crittendens Nursery in Balwyn. Repeating the transformation that had been so successful in Malvern.
Nearly two decades later, this family run business is their second store that continues to provide top quality products and services. Success in the Leader Business Awards for the cities of Stonnington and Boroondara for the past five years is proof of this. Qualified staff are trained to answer questions, identify plants and diagnose problems from your garden. This is always handy especially when you have a black thumb!
Salus - Black Clay soap and their lavender and mandarin hand and cuticle cream are great to soothe and moisturise dry hands. I brought a few gifts and treated myself with the Lemon Bliss Buff and Bath Salts.
The nursery is also a great place to top up on any fruit, vegetables, herbs, plants, roses, native plants and shrubs. They have a great range of indoor plants and succulents as well. It happened to be wet and raining on my last visit, however, the garden was mostly undercover and it was great to be able to escape indoors to the warm cafe and gift shop.
