Ladies just wanna have fun
To all the ladies out there – start gearing up your bike and pedal your way to this year's Australia's largest all women's cycling event. Formed in 1990 by Canberra Cycling Club, the Tour de Femme brings together female riders around the country to participate on this 20 kilometre ride, either on a competitive level or just purely for enjoyment.
Any female riders, even as young as 7 years, can participate in this exclusive event and will be categorised into their respective age divisions. Each division will also have its own special prize worth contending for.
Registration is now open. You will get a free shirt and water bottle when you register prior to the closing date. You don't need to be a member of any club or hold a racing license to participate. If you are at least 7 years of age, have a bike and can cycle, you're absolutely in.
But if you prefer to combine forces with your girl friends, you can participate in a team of four members at the least. Just email your team name and names of the riders to firstname.lastname@example.org by the 5th of November.
As there will be road closures during the entire race, it is extremely important that riders obey road rules for future use of the road for events like this. Please refer to event website for the basic rules that riders need to comply. It also has information on the race circuit so start familiarising these trails prior to the race.
This is one great event for all the ladies to get together and enjoy each other's company for the day. Don't despair if you don't have your friends to ride with you during the event; you will meet someone on the race day that you can share the momentous day with, it could be me!
