The Tea Tree Gully Heritage Museum will be holding a special event to celebrate Christmas. It will be held for one week only from 6th to 13th December, 2015.

The museum will proudly display their treasured items of many Christmas celebrations of the past. All the rooms will be decorated in Christmas colours, and have some special old artifacts that only come out of storage at this time of year. They include old decorations, old packaging, calendars and pictures, religious items, and much more.

The colours of Christmas are also to be seen on a selection of old postage stamps. The museum has an old post office set up, so you can pretend you are posting your Christmas cards from yesteryear. Many countries have released a Christmas stamp and these are now getting hard to find. The museum has a small collection for you to view.

See how a traditional Christmas Day dining table was set and learn about the food that was eaten back in the old days. Many of our traditional fare is still passed on to what we eat today.

After viewing the old items and exploring this amazing little museum you can relax with refreshments. A cuppa and a treat (cost $5) from the Christmas buffet will put you in the spirit of the season. There is a garden area outside to relax in also.

The gift shop will be stocked with unique hand-made Christmas gifts and home-baked goodies. These are ideal as small gifts to take when calling on friends over the season.

For more information of the museum see here .

The website has very clear instructions for getting to the museum by public transport, which includes a ride on the O-bahn from Grenfell St in Adelaide CBD or the Klemzig or Paradise Interchanges. Then change to a local bus at Tea Tree Plaza Interchange.

This could make a good outing for younger children during the week or on the weekend for an interesting family outing. Your parents or grandparents will look back with nostalgia.
