Vintage gear is fast becoming a local industry in Warrnambool, what with the Mill Markets at the old Fletcher Jones factory and numerous opp shops around the place. Every local weekend market also has collectibles alongside the usual market fare of vegies, jams, clothes, toys and miscellaneous stuff.

[ADVERT] is a great little (or not so little) vintage shop that has been operating for about two years in the main shopping area of Warrnambool. If you don't have time to fossick around in all the available collectibles venues around the area, this is a good place to go - like an amped op shop focusing on vintage, so you don't have to sift through junk to find what you're looking for.

The store is huge, and has two levels: ground floor and a sort of mezzanine upstairs, like a large balcony. There is also a back room.

There doesn't seem to be any particular logic to the layout, probably because there is so much stock, so you can find kitchenwares, knick-knacks, clothes, furniture, books, jewellery, collectibles and decorator items in every part of the store.

If you're looking for ladies clothes, there are racks and racks of them here. Shoes - tick. Hats - tick. Handbags - tick.

The guys also have some outfits to select...lots of synthetic fibres, so make sure you're wearing rubber-soled shoes to avoid static shocks!

There is sporting equipment, some nice vintage furniture, lots and lots of ceramic doo-dads, and some very nice glassware and crockery.

You do need to allow a bit of time to do this shop justice if you just want to browse. There is just so much to look at, unless you are in there on a mission to find something specific.

To be fair, not everything in this shop is, strictly speaking, vintage. A lot of it is retro, and there is a small number of items that are modern but collectible. Others are complementary to the vintage goods or reproduce vintage styles, so will match well with vintage products (so, for example, you might find a vintage dress and modern, vintage-style shoes to match here).

But if you're into this sort of stuff, you can spend a fun half hour or more here, poking through the shelves to find a treasure, or a quirky gift for a friend, or even a memory-jogging item to transport you back to your childhood. In fact, the Easter Bunny even found a couple of really cute ceramic egg cups here for my kids, which were a great hit.

is open seven days a week.
