Every Sunday morning you will find this fruit and vegetable market alive and buzzing, with crowds filling the banks of Port River.

Now I'm sure we have all been to fruit and vegetable markets before, however the vibe that an open air market by the water gives, is something that not all market locations can offer. Get in early as opening is from 6am. It's fresh, the air is clean and there is a delightful, yet busy and colourful atmosphere.

If you love fresh produce then this market has got to be as fresh as it gets. There are 30-40 stall holders here who mostly own their own private farms and sell their fresh produce directly from their farms. You really will be spoilt for choice, sometimes making it quite hard to decide which stall to buy from. Some stall holders even cut up their fruit for free tastings so you can taste exactly what you are buying.

There are bargains to be had, but are some bargains too good to be true?

Strawberries, so bright and looking absolutely delicious at $1.00 a punnet. Hmmm, unfortunately this bargain was not to be had on this day. I searched through most of these punnets, desperate to buy some strawberries but you know how it goes, lovely on the top, flip the punnet and you get something that is not a pretty sight. I must admit that these kind of strawberries followed through to all stall holders on this day so it was not the day for strawberries, however don't be put off as there were so many other bargains here which made up for this case.

Other fresh produce you can purchase at this market includes olives, oils, eggs, fresh home made sausages, bread and seafood.

The bakery stand has the freshest bread to choose from. Ranging from loaves to rolls, pizza, doughnuts, meat rolls, spinach and cheese rolls and many more. It is hard to resist the aroma of freshly baked bread.

If you fancy some seafood for dinner then don't go past the floating seafood stand where you won't get seafood fresher than this. The floating seafood stand is owned by the fishermen who go out to sea early in the morning and bring the fish back to the market to sell to you straight from their boat. You can even see the fish getting cleaned in the boat whilst you are selecting what you want to buy. Choose from garfish, whiting, snook and a few other varieties.

Now that your shopping is complete it is well worthwhile to grab yourself something from the bakery and a hot espresso coffee from the coffee van before you leave. It is a must to relax by the water. You never know, you may just be lucky enough to sight some dolphins in this gorgeous location.

Don't miss out as this market packs up at 1pm.
