can be summed up in a few words - sun, surf and sand. Or you could go all out and add words like surf clubs, fishing clubs, yachting clubs, golf clubs, great dining experiences, beautiful beaches and you might be getting a bit closer to describing this jewel in the crown of Geelong.

is located 22 kilometres south of Geelong and is at the northern end of the Surf Coast section of the Great Ocean Road. Drive through Geelong, through Grovedale and keep heading down the Highway to . Stay awhile, enjoy the activities that make a great place to stay and visit.

was once a big farming community, named Hard Man's Land. Now it serves as a hub for a lot of new residential estates. Come down to , find yourself a cabin or room for the night (I suggest booking ahead) and stay at . Take a walk along the beach or have a swim. Dine in town or prepare your own fish that you caught off the beach, and cook it on a barbecue in the park or in your own cabin.

Access to is easy by car. V-Line also runs buses between Geelong and Warrnambool, with a V-Line stop in . There are also three summer bus run stops.

In the Gilbert Street Shopping Centre you will find Food Works Supermarket, Banks, bakeries, clothes shops, hair dressers, health stores, newsagents, and a Post Office; all you need to meet your general shopping needs. There are also surf outlets for Rip Curl, QuikSilver and Roxy. Baine Court, is a great place to visit for teenagers to buy the latest in clothing at a fairly reasonable price.

Don't just take my word for it. With school holidays looming, book a cabin or room for the night or for a week, bring the children down and spend a day or two at the beach, fishing, swimming, visiting Baine Court, shopping or just relaxing.
