While it was a challenge choosing the best way to celebrate Father's Day with Dad, Mother's Day is no walk in the park with so many more options available online and offline. Instead of just buying a bouquet of flowers, bottle of perfume or a Dyson vacuum cleaner, there must be more meaningful ways to remember and appreciate Mom. Thus began my search for the best places and activities to spoil Mom around Australia. Here are some of the Mother's Day offers I found to make Mom feel special on Sunday, 12 May in Melbourne and Victoria.

To help customers celebrate all that's sweet about their Moms, Executive Chef, Clinton Jackson, is using his English heritage and Australian nationality to create a high tea buffet that's a tasty mix of traditional English with a modern Australian contemporary flair. Diners can enjoy unlimited servings of glossy chocolate fountains, live crepe station, delicate pastries, sweet desserts, homemade scones, ribbon sandwiches, selection of boutique teas and freshly brewed coffee in the modern comfort of Essence Restaurant. To top off all the sweets and savouries, Moms and guests will also receive free flow of sparkling wine during the high tea.
The Melbourne Marriott Hotel high tea buffet from 2pm to 4pm on 12 May is available at $55 per adult, $40 per teen (12-18 years) and $28 for children (under 12 years). As a nice gesture, all Weekendnotes Readers will receive 10 percent off the listed prices and discounted valet parking of $30 per car by quoting "Lionel's Best of Mother's Day Special" when making reservations. Organised by Women in Super, a national network of women working in the superannuation and finance industries, the Mother's Day Classic has been helping to raise funds and awareness for breast cancer research since 1998. This charity run has become synonymous with Mother's Day for thousands of Australians.
Families in Melbourne can participate by registering to walk or run for 4 kilometres or 8 kilometres around Alexandra Gardens and the Tan Track. All participants are in the running for spot prizes on the day and best of all, proceeds from the Mother's Day Classic are donated to the National Breast Cancer Foundation to help further research. To find out more about the Melbourne event and register to walk or run, visit the Mother's Day Classic website.

To kick off the month, this modern Italian bistro is offering a complimentary private cooking class with their Head Chef Simon Moss followed by dinner for a lucky Mom. Everyone is invited to visit their Facebook page and explain in less than 50 words why their Mom deserves to win this offer. Friends and family can also chip in with their comments.
Known for its beautiful seasonal produce and simple yet exciting flavors, Sapore is preparing a 2 and 3 course Mother's Day lunch on 12 May for $60 or $70 per person respectively. Moms get a glass of prosecco and a chance to win the private cooking class with Simon. To make your reservations, contact the restaurant at Phone 03 9534 9666.
