Capturing our beautiful city and state
Victoria has some remarkable landscapes in and outside of Melbourne city. There is a large number of professional photographers who are working and applying their talent to unearth the incredible state and showcase it to the rest of the world.
The following five photographers have captured some striking shots in Victoria and around the country/world.
If you know a particularly talented photographer not on this list, comment their name in the comments section so we can all admire their work.
5) Matt Irwin
Matt's photography is noted as one of the best in Victoria because it is so versatile. One day he is taking shots of a busy Melbourne street, the next he is creating beautifully artistic portraits of people, and the next it will be an image of Greater Victoria.
Matt says that his pictures encompass urban Melbourne in all of its moods, baring itself for all. He encourages people to take the journey through the Melbourne love affair.
Darren J Bennet has acquired quite the following on social media. His Facebook page has obtained over 4,000 likes to date. But, it's not hard to understand why when you see how inspiring his photos are.
Darren was born in Lorne - along the coastline of Victoria. This is where he developed a love for the art of photography, and it's clear to see in his photos that he admires the coast and the ocean. He believes that photography is a real test of patience and persistence, and a never-ending battle against the natural elements and mother nature.
Scott creates artistically minded photographs of people, places, and incredible things that fill Victoria. His images expose the wilderness and natural elements of the country, as well as the community that resides in it.
All of Scott's shots have a sense of realness about them. There is a truth and depth about them that is revealed in the shot. You will discover that some of Scott's images are striking with colour and others have been manipulated to be black and white. Each colour decision is made with purpose and to convey an emotion to the audience.
Tony Middleton's work is so admirable that it has been purchased and used by Parks Victoria, Calorama Calendars, and ABScenes Calendars. He has travelled all over Australia - seeing placed that are rarely touched by man - and photographed them all.
Tony's passion for photography derives from his need for adventure and quest for perfection. He says that his philosophy is to get each image right in the camera, right in the field. He's captured images of the coast, the outback, the weather, and more.
Mark Gray's artistic and creative talents started to show when he was a teenager and spent hours upon hours spraying graffiti onto the railways and laneways of Melbourne. He studied multimedia at university after completing high school and worked part time as a DJ in Melbourne clubs.
But, these paths did not continue on forever for Mark, as he discovered a different creative outlet and love for photography when on a trip to Apollo Bay. Over just a few years, his talent and passion quickly grew. He established his business and began teaching his own photography workshops.
Victoria, and all of Australia, should feel grateful that Mark was led into photography. His art demonstrates the beauty of this remarkable country - leaving no detail out. Each image shows the serenity and overwhelming natural wonder of Australia.
I have visited many art shows in and around the Mornington Peninsula and one very popular photographer is Nik Psomiadis who's work is exhibited in many of these art shows. I have also seen his work on display at Steven Print Gallery 208 Church St Richmond and Print Decor Gallery 60 Glenferrie Rd Malvern. I have a large print of Niks on my wall at home.
