5. Galston Valley Railway
This is an unexpected one, but probably one you won't see too many other places around the world. For just $10 per adult and $2.50 per ride, you can experience a ride aboard a real life (miniature size) steam train that the whole family can ride on! It takes you on a 1km track through tunnels, past gnomes and past model villages, all the time abiding by the red /green signal lights. If you're lucky, you'll even see the driver shovelling coal into the engine! Kids of all ages love it (even big kids like me!)
4. Wannabees
What other place can you be a chef, a beautician, a firefighter and a newsreader all in one day? Well, none other than Wannabees - a kid's indoor play park in Frenchs Forest – it's so good that adults will love it too! You can literally 'bee' what you want to 'bee'!

3. Powerhouse Museum
Sydney's Powerhouse Museum has something to entertain every type of child, from The Wiggles enthusiast to the space explorer or the science buff. With hands-on experiences it will keep the kids entertained all day and you might even catch Auntie enjoying screen painting or cutting fruit salad in the interactive Wiggles exhibit!
2. Q Station
Manly's old quarantine station is riddled with history and maybe the odd ghost or two! You can do a tour in the day or experience the Q station at night in all its ghoulie glory! It also has a beautiful beach and eatery which are well worth a trip…if you can stay that long!
1. Cryptic Cities
Spend a few hours as an explorer across the Botanical Gardens or Manly on your very own modern-day scavenger hunt, using your phone to receive and send cryptic messages. The kids love using Mum and Dad's phone to receive and send messages and the whole family can get involved in solving the clues whilst enjoying an exploratory walk around the city or Manly.

It's good wholesome fun that will entertain the whole family, from 4 year old son to Grandma, taking you on a trail of sights you might never ordinarily find! For only $20 for the whole family for a couple of hours out, it's an adventure well worth having.
